Coffee: from planting to cup

  • Sowing

-The best seeds are selected for planting in soil and organic material.
-When the seeds sprout, they are transplanted into a bag
-Between 4 and 6 months later, the bag is transplanted to the field

  • Flowering

-It takes up to 8 months after being transplanted into the bag.
-Then, 8 months after flowering, the coffee berries reach maturity.

  • Maturation

The coffee bean takes between 6 to 8 months to mature.

  • Harvest

Ripe grains are collected manually. An experienced coffee picker can collect 90 kilos of the bean per day.

  • Pulped

In this process, the pulp is mechanically removed from the coffee bean.

  • Fermentation and washing

The beans are fermented and washed in a process of 12 to 18 hours.

  • Drying

Coffee beans are spread in the sun for 1 to 3 days to remove moisture and turn it into parchment coffee.

  • Threshing

The shell is removed to the parchment coffee and exposed in green coffee. Then it is classified according to its size to pack them in bags for export.

  • Roasting

Green coffee beans are subjected to a roasting process by means of heat to achieve the ideal texture of Colombian coffee.
